How to Become a Character Rather Than a Delusion
eco-leather silhouettes, nails, Variable dimensions, 50–200 cm
 MAC, studi d’artista, Padova (IT)

Born from a six-month research residency at MAC – studi d’artista in Padua, the work consists of a series of eco-leather silhouettes developed through the study and sustained engagement with the cycle of frescoes by Giotto inside the Scrovegni Chapel.

The orthodox narrative of religious representation is here re-signified through processes of fragmentation, abstraction, and recomposition. The creative process extracts details from sacred iconography (postures, expressions, elements of the scene) and redeploys them within an unprecedented “crooked” iconography.

The resulting apparatus is composed of monstrous yet dreamlike figures whose anthropomorphic character is convulsively contaminated by zoomorphic parts and surreal distortions. The outcome is a queer mosaic in which genders, species, fragments, and wholes intertwine.
