Valentina occhi neri
lunar hare skin, steel wires, variable dimensions.
exibithion Errabunda - Museo Civico Romanazzi Carducci - Putignano (BA)

A spin-off of How To Become a Character Rather Than a Delusion—a series of works made of eco-leather silhouettes fixed to the wall that reinterpret scandalous, perverse, and vicious figures from medieval frescoes—Valentina has detached herself from the wall to inhabit three-dimensional space. Her decision has generated an imbalance that wavers, a fragile oscillation. Now, as she struggles to remain upright, micro-movements can be glimpsed that imitate the imperceptible variations of a breathing body. Like a ghostly presence absorbed in its transition, poised between the desire to remain nailed to the wall and the urge to stand autonomously in space, Valentina bears witness to the precariousness, the difficulty, and the pain of inhabiting a dominant narrative and a shared space in which she cannot recognize herself. She feels off-balance, unstable, disharmonic, crumpled, disordered. Like a premonition, watching her, a coyote: an archetype of the trickster, a liminal figure who, while creating disorder, is a wild ferryman of change capable of unsettling the established order of things.
